Hello Blog!

Oh hello there blog. It's been a while. Well it's the end of 2012 and a lot has happened since 2007 for anyone who is interested. First we moved from Edmonton, Alberta to the Arctic. Well back to the Arctic because no one seems to ever really leave the Arctic. We moved to Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. We lived there until just recently when we moved to Montreal.

This is an old picture of me looking really happy to be in our first apartment. We had been living in a tiny hotel room with two cats and no fridge or any kind of kitchen. It was the middle of winter so I hung meat out the room window and hoped the ravens wouldn't get it. We took the first apartment we were offered. I think it use to be an office. As you can see the couch blocked the entrance to the bedroom and the door to the bathroom was practically right in the living room. It was also painted a very strange shade of light pink with those gold 'boob' lights everywhere.

So I'm not painting a very rosy picture so far but Nunavut does have a stunningly beautiful landscape 

We had a snowmobile and spent most of the winter going on adventures like this

That's why I've decided to start this blog again. To document all the changes we made there as well as in our new apartment because I love a good DIY and love a deal but don't want it to look that way. 

Our condo was pretty ugly to start with but we spent a year renovating with what limited materials we could get. Seeing the changes we could make with fairly simple renovations- simple because I had the idea and Chad had to implement them-really fuelled my love of design and all things design related.
